We’re inching closer to the flagging off of this year’s Kenya Airways East African Safari Classics Rally which is scheduled to start on 23rd November and end on December 1st. The biennial rally will be flagged off at Sarova Whitesands Mombasa and will end at the same venue and Safaricom has announced its support of the race to the tune of Ksh17M broken down into Kshs15M cash sponsorship and Kshs2M for officials and rally crews.

As East African Safari Rally Limited Director JS Vohra says,  “This year’s rally will cover 4000kms going into Tanzania and back into Kenya in pre-1985 cars. With Safaricom’s great marketing and wide networking, the ‘World’s toughest rally’ will spread and this will encourage other drivers to participate. We are grateful for this because it means the Safari Classic will continue to grow”.

The Safari Classic Rally comes with rich heritage and is one of the toughest contests in the world. Fans who will go to experience the rally will get an opportunity not only to be one with the scenic Kenyan coast, but will also be covered by Safaricom’s network coverage as well as internet as they follow the action.

“At Safaricom, we value sports and talent development as has been seen through our engagement in athletics through the Safaricom Athletics Series, and our recent sponsorship of the IAAF Under 18 Championships as well as Chapa Dimba Na Safaricom football tournament set to kick off next month. We believe sports plays an important role in transforming the lives of the communities that we serve,” said Ms. Mulinge.

Other sponsors of the event are Kenya Wildlife Services, Sarova Group of hotels, Internet Solutions, Copy Cat Group, Kenya Moto Sports Federation and the Automobile Association of Tanzania.
