Someone once asked me why I blog part of my answer included these words…
“Blogging ushered me into this community of great thinkers young and old. I love the idea of having a peek into the serious assortment of brains that is bloggers. Brains I would otherwise never have gotten to interact with in the brick and mortar world”
Come December I’ll get to put faces to bloggers and online personalities that I’ve interacted with for years but never had a chance to meet physically. This will be at a bloggers camp organized by the Bloggers Association of Kenya at Cray Fish Camp Naivasha from 12th – 14th December 2014. The aim of the camp is to help bloggers interact offline, network, learn how to improve their blogger business models, and of course to have fun. The camp will impart blogging tips, social media skills as well as technical skills.
The camp is open to all interested players in the online space. These could be anything from developers, artists, designers, writers and anyone keen on online content development and web publishing.
Here is a sneak peek of what to expect:
- Workshops for training on blogging and social media basics. We will have practical workshops and give case studies on how to create better blogs.
- Performances where creatives can showcase their talents in an evening of bonfire, storytelling and sharing what drives everyone’s passion.
- Presentations from well-known bloggers, media agencies, and social media influencers who have successfully built their careers through use of online platforms.
- Team building activities and loads of fun.
BAKE intends to hold the camp every year under a theme informing the nature of activities carried out that year. The first Blog Camp will run with the theme “Blogging as a Business”
Tickets for the cam are now available with limited spaces for those interested. Tickets go for Kshs. 3,500 for BAKE Members and Kshs. 4,500 for non-members. They can be purchased through M-PESA Paybill Number 865850. The Account Number/Name is CAMP
