During the ceremony, Kenya Tourism Board Managing Director Mr. Muriithi Ndegwa commended Medina Palms for its exemplary services warranting the recognition by TripAdvisor. He reiterated KTB’s commitment to supporting the tourism industry and called on stakeholders and the general public to collaborate together with KTB to showcase Kenya as tourism destination with quality products.
Mr.Ndegwa also acknowledged Kenya as a great destination “Kenya is known for its unique and quality tourism products despite the challenges we are facing as a country. Medina Palms has today demonstrated this fact by emerging the top hotel in the country and also being among the top 25 hotels in Africa”.
The award comes along as ‘Wonders of Watamu’ created by local stakeholders working together to generate content and campaigns for Watamu was officially launched.The product is a marketing initiative to create global awareness of Watamu as a tourist destination. The campaign will focus on key social media platforms with daily posts to Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, as well as a website that provides updated information on Watamu and the surrounding areas, and planned access to a simple booking platform.
The platform has so far created an online buzz with nearly 8,000 facebook fans in just over a month and hundreds of fans and followers on Twitter and Instagram.
Medina Palms Director Mr. Max Cheli received the award with gratitude and expressed the hotel’s appreciation to its customers for their positive reviews that won the prestigious award.
