Salif Keita Promises Great Performance at #SafaricomJazz

by Femme Staff

Safaricom CEO Bob Collymore and Salif Keita

The Safaricom Jazz concert featuring Salif Keita is almost here and nothing makes it more real than the fact that Salif is already in town. The Afro-pop musician landed into the country yesterday and spent his first afternoon with the children of Ghetto Classics in Korogocho slums, to whom all proceeds of the Jazz festival are going. The jazz concert will be at the Bomas of Kenya on Saturday 29th August and the international star who has come with his acoustic people has promised to deliver an energy packed performance.

Speaking at the press briefing at Michael Joseph Center earlier today, Salif Keita said that he was excited about delivering a great show and speaking to each person who attends the event through his music. “Music is a powerful medium and I will be using its ability to communicate over social, cultural, geographical and language barriers to give the fans an unforgettable experience.” said Mr. Keita.

Mr. Keita’s Saturday concert will be his first performance at the Safaricom Jazz Lounge, a series of events that lead up to the annual Safaricom International Jazz Festival. This however is not the first time Salif Keita is in the country. He has been here on several occasions both for music performance as well as in his capacity as a global advocate for the rights of persons living with Albinism.

We’re giving away tickets to the Saturday 29th Salif Keita concert and these will go to people who can accurately answer these questions:

We have student tickets too and to be able to use these at the gate, one would have to have a student ID. Students are therefore also welcome to answer these questions and stand a chance to win tickets.
