Pregnancy loss is a topic that is often shrouded in secrecy, superstitions and myths. Unfortunately, the more it is mystified the more mothers who undergo keep it quiet. Yet what we need to do is break the silence so we can share experiences and educate one another on what best chances to take to avoid a miscarriage, what to do about if it happens and where to seek help. There is also need to speak about alternative forms of motherhood like adoption. Speaking up also gives a very powerful platform for the mother to be able to access services such as counselling and support from others who have been through the same.

It is in this light that Wanjiru Kihusa has not only shared her experiences about miscarriages, but also started a campaign dubbed #StillAMum to help get the word out to other families. She has spoken a lot on social media, television and print media and now she is bringing people together in an event that will coincide with the infant and loss day on Thursday October 15th. Join Wanjiru Kihusa and Bloggers Association of Kenya and save time to attend the event as they spearhead the commemoration of this day.

The event will be at the Nailab – Bishop Magua Center – Ngong Road starting 6.00pm to 8.00pm. Still A Mum will be commemorating this day every year as a way of giving affected women a support forum.

Entry is free.

See you then!
