I have never been crazy about Infinix phones, well, not until I got to use the recently launched model- Infinix Hot 2 which runs under Google’s Android One program. I have been using it for close to a week now, and to say that I am impressed would be to verily understate. And I say this, not because I have been using some Kabambe for the longest time ever and an upgrade to a smart phone of any kind would feel like heaven itself to me, but because this Infinix phone which is retailing at 8,999/- is the real deal. Let me get into the details of it.

5” HD Screen

This, in less techy terms, is to say that the screen is big, five inches big, with a decent resolution. There is something about a big screen that makes me feel like I can see everything and anything. I can even use it, no, I have even been using it to do touch-ups to my make-up every time I forget to carry a mirror.

Sleek design

I love the size and shape of it, just big enough to fit into my palm as I scroll through. It is also surprisingly light for a phone its size.

Touch sensitivity

The phone is super responsive to touch, as should be the case for any great touch-screen phone. It will do just what you need it to do, select just what you want to select and give the results you want.

Fast performance

I am an app person. I love applications. From games, to music apps, to online shopping applications and any other that are recommended to me. So I installed quite a number of them just to gauge the performance and responsiveness of the phone. Unlike most phones that tend to be slower when many apps are installed, this one has worked like new, still being super fast, with all of the apps working as effectively as they should.

Large memory capacity

Fifteen newly downloaded applications, hundreds of photos and tens of videos later, there is still so much space left on the phone’s internal memory! How cool is that?

The first thing I did when I got this phone, was to take a selfie, and I am sad to say that it didn’t really live up to my expectations. At 2 mega-pixels, the front camera does not make you go crazy about the pictures it takes. The 8 megapixels back camera however, is amazing. It takes great pictures that are so clear and beautiful you’d want to have them framed and hung up on a wall. The lens blur feature is also very impressive. Check these out. I also love the Undo option that pops up just after you delete a picture. That way I can get back pictures that I accidentally erase or those that are purposefully deleted by my friends who think they look weird in a certain pic. *Evil laugh* I was disappointed though, that the flash only works on video mode and not on camera. So taking pictures with it in a low light environment is literally impossible.

No pre-Installed recorder or document reader

I tried to transfer a document from my laptop to the phone and it gave me an error message. I was also at an event trying to get a recording of the speaker, but I couldn’t find any audio recorder. I assume it does not have any, and if it does then it is hidden because I have searched for it since and I am yet to find it. I am considering downloading one from the play store, but that would mean more charge would be used up. The more apps you have, the more charge is used up, which I will not say is a let-down, because that is typical of smart phones.

All in all this is a great phone that works best for social purposes, though it could also serve a business-oriented individual. The dual-sim make allows you to use more than one network of your choice and you can open as many application tabs as you want and access all of them almost at the same time without having to close any. Overall, I have loved the Infinix Hot 2 experience so far, I’d definitely recommend it to anyone that’s looking to have a great phone.
