Concours d’Elegance 2016 is scheduled for September 25th and already, the organizers, Alfa Romeo Owners Club has received entries for 24 motor cycles and 61 cars.

Concours d’Elegance is a classy motor event that gives people the opportunity to showcase their meticulously maintained vehicles. The vehicles are assessed by officials in the industry and the best are rewarded with prizes. There are 20 classes in total and this covers all types of cars and bikes. It is a fun filled family day event and all are encouraged to come out and bring the kids for a day full of play. There is also quite a bit to learn as we wrote last year.

The event will be held at Nairobi Racecourse as usual and among the start attractions to expect are Roger Tanner’s 1949 Bentley MK VI, Paul Chemngorem’s 1962 Volkswagen Karman Ghia and Marzio Kravo’s 1972 Mercedes Benz 450SL classic rally car.

I was at the event last year and one of the things that really held my fancy was the motorcycles. I’m glad that this year we’re also expecting quite some bad boys in this field, including the 2001 Honda Shadow by Prakeet Singh Gulati, and the 2002 Yamaha Vista by Sandeep Gill.

The event is not just about showcasing beautiful cars and motor bikes. There is robust business going on as it also features the Auto Expo and a classic car and motorcycle sales. There is information on regulations for the Auto Expo and Classic sales on the Concours Kenya page. You can also use the email address info@bobpr.com and the telephone numbers are 3316160, or 0733 732032.

Concours d’Elegance is sponsored by Commercial Bank of Africa. Speaking at a status press conference, Chris Pasha, the Group Head of Marketing at CBA said, “Five years ago the Commercial Bank of Africa commenced sponsoring the Concours because the event mirrors the character and objectives of our organization. Both are active, vibrant and continually developing.”

“It is a matter of great satisfaction to the bank that our long term agreement with the Alfa Romeo Owners Club for the title sponsorship has helped to raise the already high standards of content and organization and has encouraged competitors to locate and restore more cars and bikes. Already entries have been received from South Africa, Tanzania and Uganda to give Kenya based participants a basis for comparison.
