Look How Far Ghetto Classics Have Come!

by Femme Staff

I’ve followed the story of Ghetto Classics since the start of Safaricom Jazz and I get elated each day at just how much the program is growing, and growing the kids with it. As we speak the community project based in Korogocho is now expanding to other informal areas and has recently started a center in Mukuru Kwa Rueben. It is also expanding to other towns like Mombasa and Kisumu.

I’ve had the pleasure of speaking to several of the kids who have been lifted from a life of possible abject poverty and hopelessness to a point where they can see a clear future for themselves and their families. Just last week I had the opportunity to join two of the children in KBC English Studio as they met the one star they look upto – Sanaipei Tande. Here is the story.

Simply put, I love the story of Ghetto Classics and I wish Elizabeth all the very best in her very noble quest.
