They say that invention is the mother of necessity and that innovation is the key for the thriving of any growing nation. Technology is the new force that is sweeping across the world. It is like a train that has since left the station and everyone ought to be on it.

On Thursday, ICT Cabinet Secretary Joe Mucheru officially launched the much-awaited 2018 Connected ICT Innovation Awards.

The official launch paves way for young and energetic Kenyan innovators to be feted during the Connected Kenya Summit that will be held at the Bomas of Kenya from 22nd – 24th October.

According to the organizers of the summit, the awards are meant to celebrate Kenyan entrepreneurs that have created new ICT solutions.

In overall, over 45 ICT products and services have been awarded since the inaugural awards which were held at the Connected Kenya Summit in 2011.

“Our focus for Connected 2018 is the Big 4 Agenda. Technology has a significant role to play in the Big 4 and I look forward to seeing how we can innovate across manufacturing, healthcare, housing and food security” ICT CS Joe Mucheru said during the launch event which was held at the Intercontinental Hotel in Nairobi.
