One Two TV FC are the 2021 Red Bull Neymar Jr’s Five Kenya Champions after beating Mombasa’s Talent FC 1-0 in a day full of surprising upsets and exhilarating 5-a-side action. In the final, the goalless deadlock was broken by a 1v1 battle after regulation time.
One Two TV FC’s all-rounder Solomon Kimanzi stayed sharp and outplayed Talent FC’s Zakiyy Naim to score in the 12th minute, sending fans into a frenzy of celebration…“I’m proud of this achievement, and to have been the one to carry the team in all the 1v1s… I’m happy and relieved. The pressure was immense, but I was confident because my teammates believed in me and kept telling me they were proud of me no matter the outcome. Qatar here we come!” he said
The tournament is exciting for players and fans because of its unique format. When a team scores a goal the opposing team loses a player. The games are called after 10 minutes of play with the winner being the team that has Outplayed Them All or the one with the most players on the pitch. In the event of a deadlock after the regulation time of 10 minutes, the match is decided by a 1v1 golden goal contest.
“I’m just so proud that despite having some major injuries to a few of our key players we still managed to play well, to our strengths, with beautiful football and keeping ourselves defensively solid.” One Two TV FC captain and Youtube personality Zuhum Omar said after lifting the trophy. “The passion and commitment from the lads is second to none. We’re now aiming to outplay them all at the World Finals” he added.
The team will now begin preparations for the World Finals to take place in Doha, Qatar in December, where they will play against finalists from over 30 countries and ultimately a chance to play against Neymar Jr himself and his select team…
