With the highly portable nature of laptops, the world is looking for devices that are as light as possible, without compromising on the power and reliability that modern computing demands. In this article, we look at the Asus ZenBook UX325EA which offers these and much more.
The one word I can use for my first impression of the Asus ZenBook UX325EA is sleek. A premium looking all metal device that comes in either Pine Gray or Lilac Mist which is what I would go for. For me there is a direct link between having a good-looking gadget and productivity and I believe that goes for most people. It puts you in a feel-good space for work and gets creativity and productivity up.
The Asus ZenBook UX325EA is not just about looks though. It is also a powerful machine thanks to the 11th gen Intel i7 processor, with memory variants of 16GB/512GB for the UX325EA and 8GB/512GB for the Asus ZenBook UX325. The combination of a powerful processor and good memory means that users will not experience glitches and lags even when the laptop is subjected to memory hogging activities like gaming or working with heavy files and graphics.
All this is encased in a thin, lightweight, and highly portable body at just 3.9mm thickness and a weight of 1.14Kg. You barely notice you’re carrying a gadget, let alone one with your whole office and entertainment in it. In the past and even now, laptops have been known to be bulky enough to require the specialized bags we all know so well. But with this kind of small compact laptop, all one needs to do is put it in its sleeve and slip it into the handbag or small backpack.
The screen is the one component of a laptop that we interact with the most and in this laptop, it is one of the best features. The 13.3” screen with a screen to body ratio of 88% features an OLED display with 100% DPI (Dots Per Inch). It is full HD with rich vibrant colour that is calibrated and verified by Pantone – a colour matching and standardizing system. What this means is that the video and image quality you get on the laptop is highly detailed and clear.
For external connections like projectors and monitors or even for file transfer, the Asus ZenBook UX325EA has quite a number of options. This includes USB ports, an SD Card slot, and HDMI. It does not have a 3.5mm jack outlet but there is a type-C to jack connector for those who would still wish to use wired sound. For wireless connectivity we have good old reliable Bluetooth.
The battery on this laptop will give users upto 13 hours on a single charge. That is pretty much a full working day on average use. This impressive battery performance is supported by 65W fast charging, so that just 15 minutes will give upto 60% charge. Taking away the worry and anxiety of a dead or dying battery gives users liberty to enjoy the laptop to its full and I laud Asus for this. For those like me whose working and entertainment lives revolve around the laptop, this is such a win.
The Asus ZenBook UX325EA sound is certified by Harman Kardon and I’m excited for that! Harman Kardon is a well-known and trusted player with a good track record in the sound industry, and synonymous with above average quality. For work, this is great news for Zoom, Teams, and BlueJeans meetings. For entertainment, also great for music, movies, series, and gaming sound for those who game.
There is so much I love about this laptop, with one of my favourite features being the illuminated numeric keypad which displays on the touch pad. A solid example of good technology that makes life and work easier for users. The rest of the keyboard is edge to edge, meaning that it takes up pretty much the whole span of the laptop. This way, Asus has given users large keys and good spacing for comfortable typing.
Safety and comfort
Asus has included some features that make the laptop safer on users, one of them being the ErgoLift hinge. This invisibly elevates the keyboard ever so slightly so that it is more ergonomic to type on. For someone like me who types all day, this is an important health and safety development that I didn’t even know I needed. Along with the comfort it gives users, this tilt also creates extra space for airflow and ventilation for the laptop. It also enhances the speaker sound since speakers are not muffled by any surface.
Asus also has taken into consideration eye care by using technology that lowers blue light. This is certified by TÜV Rheinland, an independent and respected body of experts that monitors the safety of people and technology.
This is a laptop I would spend money on without hesitation. It has features that will stay current for a long time so it will serve longer. As for durability, it is US military grade certified. The devices are available at Text Book Center at Kshs.158,000/- for the Asus ZenBook UX325EA i7 16GB 512GB, and Ksh.140,000/- for the Asus ZenBook UX325 i7 8GB 512GB.
