Last Saturday, my colleagues and I visited Tatu City for a tour of the fast growing city, and for the official launch of Porini Point. Porini Point is a residential estate within Tatu City, offering modern apartments, amenities, green spaces and, most exciting of all, proximity to an upcoming wildlife sanctuary.
Porini Point is right on the edge of Tatu City Wildlife Sanctuary, a unique feature that offers a rare opportunity to live close to nature and still stay connected to the amenities of modern life. What with things like fast WiFi, malls, and short drives to Nairobi CBD, Westlands and JKIA, to name a few. Porini Point appeals to homeowners seeking calm residential spaces as well as investors who want a reliable asset in the fast growing Nairobi Metropolitan area.
The upcoming Tatu Wildlife Sanctuary bordering Porini Point is set to be a protective refuge for wildlife and will feature a Pangoling Rehabilitation Center, a Safari Lodge and a cultural pavilion.
The atmosphere at Porini Point encourages residents to slow down without losing their sense of progress. In today’s hyper connected life, the open spaces at Porini and Tatu in general, green views, and self contained city life gives off a sense of a healthy disconnection and insulation from noise and congestion, without disruptions in daily life like school, work, and sports. Add to that a wildlife sanctuary and you get a balance that supports steady comfort, stability and mental health.
“Porini Point is designed to give people more: more space, more greenery, and more convenience. At an accessible price for families and savvy investors, Porini Point is a place where you can slow down, reconnect, and still be steps away from schools, healthcare, retail, parks, and infrastructure that always works. When you choose Porini Point, you’re not just buying a home; you’re becoming part of a city built for everyday ease and long-term value.” Preston Mendenhall, Group COO and Country Head, Kenya, at Rendeavour, the owner and developer of Tatu City.
Tatu City is a 5,000 acre new city combining residential areas, industrial and commercial zones, natural spaces and amenities like schools and health facilities. All these are supported by modern infrastructure and modern orderly planning, with infrastructure featuring reliable electricity, high speed internet, clean water and over 70 km of tarmacked roads.
As mentioned earlier, Tatu City’s location offers practical drive times of about 30 minutes to Nairobi CBD for instance, 32 minutes to Westlands, 30 minutes to the United Nations offices, and about 35 minutes to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. These distances mean that residents still have the pulse of the wider Nairobi region and are not locked up in some far removed place.
With schools like Crawford International School and Nova Pioneer, dining options in several restaurants and a Naivas branch in Eneo, right at the heart of Tatu City’s CBD, Porini Point places residents inside a connected network of every day services and facilities for fulltime convenience. They also get access to health centers to cover medical needs and banks like NCBA which recently opened a branch at Eneo.
The diversity of the neighborhood is enhanced by nearby residential communities like Unity Homes, Kijani Ridge and the upcoming Jabali Towers within Tatu City CBD among other developments. Professionals are covered for office spaces by Jabali Towers and Eneo, while sports and fitness enthusiasts have fitness clubs, nature trails, and sports facilities like basketball courts and football pitches. The Tatu Industrial Park and Special Economic Zone are already expanding employment and business opportunities in the city.
Greenery cannot be emphasized enough. Despite the brick and mortar developments, Tatu City still maintains a strong foundation of nature supported by forests and coffee plantations that still define parts of the landscape. Greenery is well embedded in the landscape as opposed to sitting on the sidelines and this gives the city natural feeling designs, and residents get areas for quiet breaks, walks and outdoor routines that bring balance to urban living.
The Porini Point plan has 24 residential buildings, with apartments coming in one, two and three bedrooms. All of them also come with large windows, open layouts and private balconies, and the floor plans are thoughtfully organized and designed to accommodate a range of users from families and young professionals. Residents and investors also get shared amenities like a clubhouse, gym, swimming pool and safe designated play areas for children.
Porini Point is the brainchild of Rendeavour, that owns and develops Tatu City. Rendeavour is Africa’s biggest new city developer, with projects in Kenya, Nigeria and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
