LG Electronics (LG) East Africa, together with its main distribution partner in Kenya, Opalnet, demonstrated their commitment to cultural engagement and community partnerships by sponsoring the LG Korea Sports Day held in Nairobi.
The event was organised by the Korean Society in Kenya through the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Kenya and brought together members of the Korean community, partners and invited guests. Through sports and shared experiences, the day celebrated Korean culture while creating a platform for meaningful interaction and relationship building.
The LG Korea Sports Day also served as an important avenue for strengthening strategic relationships between LG, the Korean Society in Kenya and the Korean Embassy. The collaboration reinforced LG’s position as a socially responsible brand that is deeply connected to cultural and community initiatives within the Kenyan market.
LG Korea Sports Day showcases smart living innovation and connected home solutions
As part of its sponsorship, LG set up an interactive product showcase, allowing participants to experience a wide range of premium LG home appliances. These included the latest OLED and QNED televisions, dishwashers, washing machines, microwaves and refrigerators. LG also showcased its broader portfolio of premium home solutions such as built-in cooking appliances, portable Bluetooth party speakers and soundbars. The display highlighted LG’s leadership in home technology and its focus on delivering reliable, high-performance solutions.
A key highlight of the LG Korea Sports Day was a live smart living demonstration delivered through a collaboration with LG’s long-term technology partner, Safaricom. Using Safaricom’s 5G Wi-Fi connectivity, LG demonstrated how its home appliances can be seamlessly connected to the internet, offering guests a practical glimpse into the future of connected and intelligent homes.
Speaking during the event, KH Jeong, Product Director for Home Solutions at LG East Africa, noted the importance of partnerships that go beyond business.
“At LG, we believe that innovation goes hand in hand with meaningful relationships. Our partnership with the Korean Society in Kenya and the Korean Embassy reflects our commitment to supporting the Korean community while sharing LG’s vision of smart, connected living,” he said.
Beyond technology, the LG Korea Sports Day was a vibrant celebration of Korean culture, featuring both traditional and contemporary Korean cuisine in a relaxed and engaging environment.
Young Moon Choi, Chairman of the Korean Society of Kenya, welcomed the partnership and emphasised the role of corporate support in fostering cultural unity.
“Events like the Korea Sports Day play a vital role in bringing our community together. We appreciate the support from LG and Opalnet, whose partnership has contributed greatly to the success of this celebration and to strengthening ties within the Korean community and with our partners in Kenya,” he said.
