Jambojet Celebrates 10 Years by Selling 1,000 Tickets At Ksh.10

Jambojet has ended Easter celebrations in style by flooding 1,000 one-way air tickets to customers at 10 shillings each to celebrate 10 years of being in Kenyan airspace.

The offer saw Kenyans rush to the airline’s website to try their luck, leading to the website slowing down at some point due to heavy traffic from customers trying to book their flights.

At 10 shillings, an air ticket from Nairobi to Mombasa that would cost at least 8,500 shillings, would save the customer 8,490 shillings.

Interestingly, the sale of the tickets at 10 shillings came on April Fool’s Day. Many Kenyans thought it was part of the day’s prank that Jambojet was trying to pull on them.

“We believe in giving our customers the best and making their access to various destinations easy. This is just a small token of appreciation for our esteemed customers for the years they have their trust in us,” said Karanja Ndegwa, the CEO of Jambojet.

The regional low-cost airline flies to seven destinations from its hub at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi to Mombasa, Eldoret, Kisumu, Malindi, Ukunda (Diani), Lamu, and Goma in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo.

Jambojet has been opening up new routes, venturing outside Kenya starting with Goma. The Goma route has opened up new opportunities for Kenyan investors to open up businesses in the Democratic Republic of Congo as well as those in DRC doing the same in Kenya.

At the same time, from July 1, the airline plans to fly four times a week between Mombasa and Zanzibar, with fares starting from $113 for a one-way ticket.

“I would like to promise our customers the best this year. They are our greatest assets and we shall always strive to give them the best,” said Mr. Karanja.
