The vision for Worldcoin in Africa and beyond, is to be the world’s largest decentralized, privacy-preserving identity and financial network as a public utility, giving ownership to everyone.
The project is honoured and humbled to witness the remarkable growth and enthusiasm surrounding the adoption of its proof of personhood technology since its launch in Kenya on Monday, 24th July. The response from Kenyans has been overwhelmingly positive, and Worldcoin is delighted to see how the protocol’s first compatible wallet, World App from the contributors at Tools for Humanity, has provided an opportunity for financial inclusion for many.
As part of the project’s commitment to ensuring a smooth proof of personhood verification process for all eligible to participate, resulting in increased demand, a two-day Worldcoin event will be held. The event will occur at the KICC on the 29th and 30th of July weekend. Other verification locations will be temporarily paused in support of the two-day event. In addition to getting verified for World ID, those attending will also get to participate in educational activities provided by partners from across the Kenyan blockchain community, highlighting the many uses of blockchain and Web3 applications available to Kenyans.
Worldcoin was designed to protect individual privacy and has a robust data protection program in place. The Worldcoin Foundation is committed to working with partners globally to ensure the project meets regulatory requirements, including those under Kenya’s Data Protection Act and regulations, and provides a safe, secure, and transparent service for verified humans. Kenyans can be confident that their data will be treated with care and that Worldcoin will never sell their personal data.
