Huawei GT6 smartwatch review covers design, HarmonyOS fluidity, health tracking, battery life, and everyday reliability for users.
The Huawei GT6 launched in the country last month, together with the GT6 Pro and the MatePad TXZ tablets, putting the country on the same release cycle as other major markets. The launch event’s emphasis was on daily wellness, productivity and long battery life.

The GT6 retail box packaging is understated. The watch itself sits in a shaped mould with the strap attached. Under it are the charger and a brief guide that directs you to download the Huawei Health app if you’re a new user. This presentation is intentional and not decorative or boasted as the watch is built to pick up pace the moment you pair it.
Setup
Pairing begins inside the Huawei Health app, which you can download for Android, iOS, HarmonyOS and Huawei’s wider ecosystem, by scanning a QR code which is visible on the watch once switched on. The launch in Nairobi highlighted this cross-platform approach, and it comes through clearly in how easily the GT6 links to mixed devices.
Permissions move fast. Calls, notifications, health metrics, workouts, and watch face options appear within minutes.
HarmonyOS 6 feels steady with swipes that respond instantly, icons that settle cleanly, uninterrupted flow and a consistent interface.

Design
The GT6 46mm is really attractive and will catch your attention thanks to the stainless steel, which keeps the frame solid and the curved glass that pushes the screen forward without adding thickness. This balance of proportions makes the watch feel familiar on your wrist instead of sitting awkwardly.
When you look at the Pro version, it has a titanium and sapphire glass design if you want the premium tier. Otherwise, the regular GT6 holds its own with a calmer, less assertive expression that suits wearing the watch every day.
The GT6 comes in two sizes – 41mm and 46mm. The 46mm sits at a comfortable middle ground as it carries a presence without feeling heavy. The lugs are gentle, and the underside is smooth, so long hours of use will never introduce friction.
If you prefer compact watches, then the 41mm model exists for you. However, the display is larger on the 46mm, which gives better room for data-heavy workouts. The Pro model also has the 46mm footprint but with a more premium finish.

The screen is plenty bright at 3000 nits, which means the watch face stays readable even in midday sunlight, and the viewing angles are great as well – I found no issue during my errands out and about. Text is sharp even at low brightness settings. You can also switch between video-loop watch faces, minimalist faces or data-rich layouts without any strain.
The screen is very responsive, matching the fluidity of HarmonyOS, and I didn’t experience any lag or hesitation and didn’t need to catch its breath.

Health Features
The GT6 has a full suite of everyday and advanced wellness tools thanks to its upgraded TreSense sensor system. The watch tracks heartbeats with high consistency, either during rest or exercise. You also get heart rate variability readings alongside stress and emotion checks at regular intervals.
Sleep tracking is great here as the watch recorded my sleep duration, my nightly patterns, and breathing rate and overall sleep scores, which gave me a broad overview of my nights. Something a lot of women will appreciate is that cycle tracking is available here. Other features include all-day SpO2 monitoring and guided breathing exercises for quick resets during the day, which I enjoyed doing.
Battery Life
GT6’s strongest feature is its battery endurance. The 46mm gave me two weeks without needing to juice it up in between workouts, notifications, calls and always on display settings, which is pretty impressive and surpassed many rivals.
This reliability changed how I lived with the watch. I would leave the charger untouched for long periods, and I could travel without having battery anxiety. I trained with it multiple times a day without worrying about going low on battery.
Verdict
The Huawei GT6 is a very reliable everyday watch as it centres durability, fluid software, long battery life and dependable heart rate performance. It handled workouts with competence, and it will move through your daily activities without demanding anything from you.
